I have a B.A. in Art, Business and Communication, worked for 15 years as an art dealer and gallerist, and worked with legal issues as an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Investigator before moving to Silver City. I appreciate the open, accepting environment of our town, and our community’s support for the arts. I love working in the world of real estate, and I find that each day is rich and different. Optimism is part of who I am, and I believe the real estate process, while challenging, can and should be fun! Meeting new people and helping them connect to home is the most exciting opportunity I have had professionally.

I have bought, sold and renovated homes from Texas to Portland, Oregon, to the Black Hills of South Dakota, and have finally come home to Silver City. This part of New Mexico is truly magical and a beautiful place to live. Finding what each house has to offer, seeing its possibilities and bringing those to fruition is very rewarding. I guess that’s why I have remodeled every house I’ve ever owned! My experiences as a homeowner and with renovations help me understand how you feel as a buyer or a seller, and enable me to guide you through the often-complicated issues associated with real estate transactions.

My husband and I moved to Silver City so he could continue his teaching career at Western New Mexico University. We enjoy trips into the Gila Wilderness, local concerts, community involvement, and all things New Mexican. With family and friends in other states who visit often, we try to discover new local activities to share whenever possible.

Home should be a refuge as well as a gathering place for loved ones. I feel privileged to be able to develop close relationships with clients and support them as they navigate the local real estate market, or as they evaluate the market to sell their homes. I work hard to see that each customer is satisfied and confident that he or she has found the right home, or sold a home at the right price.

Highlights from treasured clients:

"I have bought and sold homes in multiple states and my experience with Shelley was better than all of them! I would not hesitate to recommend her! She was professional, personable, and easy to work with. She has a tremendous amount of local knowledge and was helpful before during and after my purchase. Shelley made my home buying purchase in a new location a breeze."

"After years of considering a purchase and experiencing realtors either not ever returning my call on a property or realtors expecting me to do the legwork, Shelley is a breath of fresh air! From the start, her efficiency was evident. A genuine professional start to finish! I highly recommend Shelley Scarborough to anyone looking to purchase in Southwest New Mexico!"

"Shelley did a fantastic job selling our house. She gave us great tips on how to prepare and stage our house. She answered clearly and precisely our questions. We received a full price offer within two days of listing and closed escrow on time with same buyer. I highly recommend Shelley for buying or selling properties. It was a pleasure working with her."
